WOMEN LEADING CHANGE IN EAST AFRICA
The Sasamani Foundation presents Women Leading Change, a transformational leadership program for high-potential, mid-career women leaders in East Africa. The program unlocks individual leadership skills and increases women's confidence to lead positive change within family structures, organizations, and communities.
The program's innovative approach, grounded in scientific theory, offers one-week classroom learning followed by four months of customized, one-on-one coaching and active Alumni support networks. Women Leading Change gathers experienced educators and coaches from East Africa to deliver a world-class and culturally relevant program.

Women have the power to create a more equitable and prosperous future for East Africa.
The Need: Growing evidence suggests that women's participation in decision-making improves governance and political processes. However, women in East Africa are highly underrepresented in leadership roles, mainly due to discriminatory social norms internalized by society as a whole (OECD, 2021). 100% of the Tanzanian women leaders who participated in a series of interviews conducted by Sasamani in 2017 questioned their ability to make a difference in professional settings and their communities
Women Leading Change identifies these internal disempowering beliefs and re-writes them. Women Leading Change challenges participants to audaciously define the change they want to lead in the world, and this begins with within. The Sasamani Foundation believes and has evidence to suggest that IF women get the opportunity to connect to themselves and their purpose deeply, THEN they will strengthen their leadership.
“I now face reality with courage and confidence. As a mother and entrepreneur who has to provide for family members, I don’t walk away anymore when I feel like giving up.”
Jasmine, Women Leading Change 2018 graduate and coach.
